Abortion: Revealed

1984, Marvin Gaye, sr., shot and killed his son singer/songwriter Marvin Gaye, jr.,  and was sentenced to prison. I said at that time, eventually, he will be released or acquitted under the defense that he was only preforming a 183rd tri-mester, post-natal, abortion.

People, understandably, laughed. "It will never happen, because abortions are preformed before the birth."

I said, " It won't matter. Somebody will be aquitted for killing their child after it was born." Then came Casey Anthony. The responsibility for the 2 yr old child's death went unpunished.

Abortion is about convenience. It always was, it always will be.
"Convenience killing" is nothing new. The taking of another life has been practiced all throughout history. Sometimes, a War has been a way of getting rid of a spouse in favor of marrying another. We have seen that in leaders of the past.

We saw that in the killing of Jesus Christ after He became a threat to the establishment in Rome.

A human life is precious and unique. A human is the only species which is able to take the entire accumulation of his life and pass it on to the next generation and learn from and add to that knowledge. As we have found in recent generations, we seem to be the only species to reject some of that accumulated knowledge, as well.

Abortion has been legal in the Untied States since the Supreme Court ruled on Roe vs. Wade in 1973, and it has resulted in millions of deaths each year, following that decision.

Since that time, we have debated life and death from the "Womb to the Tomb". If we can legally end a life before it "officially" starts, to when it "chemically" dies.

In 2005, Terri Schiavo was removed from artificial and man made equipment after years following an overdose of "partying". I observed, at that time, she was the bridge between the young, with abortion, and the old, as  in legalized "assisted" suicide. If she was allowed to die, then that would complete the bridge and we could never again consider ourselves a Nation in favor of life.

We now have two generations which have been born since the RvW, the citizens in favor of killing their kids before they are born are accepted and thought of as it is their "choice".

When does that "choice" end?

It won't, as long as the understanding and the value of  life is not accepted by another person. Every choice is an action and responsibility for the action and reaction is has to be accepted by the person making the choice.

Lack of sold out NFL play off games.

This is an addition, rather that a correction to the Blog of May 10th, 2010.

In the 1950’s, Movie theatres had a problem with declining attendance. They tried adding 3-d and taking advantage of America’s love of the automobile by letting people stay in their cars.

Sports, and in particular the NFL, is experiencing a decline in attendance at stadiums. Cheap Large screen, HD, Flat TV's are the main reason. It is not the only reason, each team has its own peculiarities, of course. But, when you look at the overall home experience, you can purchase the TV once with the cost of a single game or season ticket, depending on the size of the set, and have it without the hassle of traffic, crowds, and weather.

Like it or not, unless the weather is perfect, they aren’t going. I don’t care what people say about an open-air stadium, such as Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, they do not like the sun in their eyes and baking down on their heads. Do you want proof, I had mine during an Autograph signing and Open Public practice in August of 2012, when there were about 5,000-10,000 people in the stands and not one was sitting on the East side because the Sun was still shining. Everybody was sitting on the West side because they wanted to sit in the shade. This practice was not televised, of course, none of them are. It rained and was cancelled after about 30 minutes. Everybody went home.

The NFL will blame it on everything else, but don’t see them attacking the problem. That won’t happen. As far as they are concerned, they aren’t doing anything wrong. I can see their point. How do you “keep people safe”, when you are telling them you don’t trust the fans so you have to check everything from a glass of water to a purse they bring into the stadium, too. “Welcome to the game, we don’t trust you. If you don’t like it, stay home.”

National Vehicle Inspections? Yes!

Since the dawn of the Model "T", we have been paying taxes to drive by paying for the fuel , tires, oil, and tolls, and, of course, "violations".

The problem here is, that the vehicles are becoming more fuel efficient and it won't take very long before the hybrids, CNG, and other newer technologies on the horizon, are going to become an issue for the government's budgeting.

I live in Florida and moved from New Jersey. Vehicle inspections are optional and some Counties require it, but Sa-ra-so-ta!, does not. In New Jersey, there were yearly vehicle inspections and never made much sense to me. You would spend an hour in line to have them fail you for anything from a build up of emissions from sitting in line for an hour, to not having a watermark on your proof of insurance card or letter.

It is my vision, in the not so distant future, the vehicle inspections will be National and will be yearly for the main intention of recording mileage and you will have to pay the taxes in that way. It will start with the type of vehicle. For example, a Tesla, will pay the most per mile, since it is a real full time electric vehicle. Since Golf Carts are not allowed to be on the public roads, they will be exempt except for the tires and batteries. Gas powered cars will pay the least per mile as a result of paying for it through the gas/fuel sales.

If the technology exists, now, or in the future, for hydrogen vehicles, a vehicle which runs on a hydrogen/oxygen separator would only require water in the fuel tank. - Good luck in the winter, though.
But, how about antifreeze in the tank to keep the water from icing up? Problem solved.

I have procrastinated in writing this blog for several years. I'm glad I have finally documented it.

Daylight Savings Time Revealed

DST meaning has been changed over the years from check the batteries in your smoke detector to "saving energy", to children waiting for school buses.

For radio people it is easier to understand DST in terms of daily AM power and pattern changes.

Time is an invention and the clock is a visual representation of that invention. When farmers awaken, they are basing the start of their day by the sunrise. Sunrise occurs at the same time every day.

But wait, "my clock shows different times each day!"

Yes it does, because a clock does not use the rotation of the Earth, which is what determines local "sunrise".

If we were to use the reference of the Rotation, we would be changing our clocks every day as we used to do with a radio station sunrise sign-on.

The reason we use DST, twice a year, in the way we do, is a compromise because to get millions of people, in just this Country alone, to change their clock 365 days a year would be impractical at best. Disastrous at worse.

The FCC deregulation changed the requirements, over the years, to minimize the amount of different changes, which is why your AM radio station changes the time of the power and pattern at the same time at start of each month instead of everyday. Politics determined the minute with which that occurs.

The human body responds better to awakening to the sun than it does to dark. Going to sleep doesn't negatively affect the body near as much as waking up.

We don't really need DST in this State because as you get closer to the equator, the less the swing between the amount of daylight between Winter and Summer (as we call it).

Quiz:
Between Anchorage, New York, and Sa-ra-so-ta!, which has more daylight over the year?

Ans:
None. The further North you travel, the more the difference between the Summer Solstice and the Winter, but averages the same 12 hours of each in every place on the Planet.

Florida has 2 time zones because it spans a large distance East to West. I-10 alone, is over 362 miles long, and the Palm Beach Inlet at 80* 02' 14w is even further East. It is easier to keep it in line as the areas up North most influential to that longitude.

Why do gas prices at the pump rise quickly and fall slowly?

When people notice that the pump prices rise, they top off the tank at the current price for that fuel already in the tank in the ground, which in turn makes the gas station owner order more gas. When it arrives and the price is more than the previous order, the price goes up reflecting the new delivery.
When people hear the gas prices are going down, they wait to fill because they want to benefit from the lower price. The gas station owner has to wait until the fuel in the tank in the ground goes down to a certain level before he orders another delivery at which time the pump price will reflect the price paid for that fuel.
In other words, it will take longer to empty the gas station tank when people think prices are dropping than it does when people know the price is going up.
